TL;DR: For timed catalogue price changes with restore, you need scheduling and rollback, not only a discount code app. Native Shopify discounts cover many offers; bulk price editors cover rewriting product prices at scale. Bulk Discounts Price Editor is one option. Rank tools by your must-haves after checking live listings, not by outdated “Top 10” posts.
Figure (DISCOUNTS-002-A1): Comparison table of Shopify bulk discount and price editor options including native tools
How to choose (at a glance)
- Separate automatic discounts from product price editors.
- List must-haves: schedule, rollback, filters, compare-at, Markets.
- Check whether native discounts already meet the campaign.
- Shortlist apps that document those must-haves on the App Store today.
- Compare pricing models (free allowance vs flat SaaS) with today’s numbers.
- Test on a development store before BFCM.
- Confirm you can restore prices if something goes wrong.
- Reject any comparison that invents ratings or last year’s prices.
Quick answer
Use this page as a refresh of our older “best bulk price editor apps” URL. The 2024 “Top 10 Shopify Apps for Discounts” article should be merged or redirected here. It is year-stale and thin.
If your campaign only needs a coupon or an automatic cart offer, stop at native discounts. If product cards, feeds or wholesale channels must show a lower Price for a known window and then return, evaluate bulk price editors with schedule and restore documented on the live listing.
Who this is for + research date
Merchants running flash sales, seasonal repricing or large catalogue percentage updates. Research date: checked against App Store listings as of 3 November 2026. Feature and price claims for every row below must be re-checked against live App Store pages that day. Do not paste competitor prices from older Aperitive posts.
Disclosure
Published by Aperitive, developer of Bulk Discounts Price Editor (App Store handle: Easy Sale Price / apps.shopify.com/easy-sale-price). We include native routes and third-party alternatives, and we say when our app is a poor fit.
How we evaluated
- Schedule start/end and restore/rollback for product price fields
- Bulk filters (collection, vendor, tag, variant)
- Compare-at handling
- Transparency of pricing on the listing
- Native alternative coverage (can you skip an app?)
- Support signals from public reviews (qualitative notes only; no invented star averages or “lab scores”)
- Uninstall and recovery expectations for a development-store trial
We deliberately avoid trophy language (“best of 2025 is always us”) and padded top-ten lists filled with unverifiable apps.
Decision nuance: discount apps vs price editors
Merchants often search “bulk discount apps” when they mean one of three jobs:
- Codes / automatic discounts at cart or checkout
- Catalogue price rewrites (temporary or permanent)
- Mixed campaigns where some SKUs use codes and others use sale prices
Only the second and third jobs need a price editor with restore. A discount-focused app that cannot change product Price will not give you “was/now” on product cards that read the price field. A price editor that cannot manage combination rules will not replace Shopify’s Discounts admin for coupons. Write your must-haves against that split before you shortlist.
Summary comparison table
Keep only apps you can open on the App Store today. The table below lists Bulk Discounts Price Editor plus native Shopify; add competitors only after a live listing check
| Tool / route | Ideal for | Schedule + restore | Notes | Pricing snapshot |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Native discounts | Codes & automatic offers | Discount window, not product-price restore | First-party | Included |
| Native bulk product editor | Small price edits | No robust sale scheduler | Manual | Included |
| Bulk Discounts Price Editor | Timed catalogue sales | Listing: schedule + rollback | Canonical Aperitive app | Free allowance then paid plans First 15 variant updates free, then from about $12.99/month scaling by Shopify plan (App Store snapshot 3 Nov 2026) |
| Native Shopify bulk editor | Small catalogue edits | Built-in; no schedule/rollback | Fine for tens of products | Included |
| (Add App Store competitors on publish day) | — | Only after live listing check | — | — |
Remove from older versions of this page: invented “Bulk Price Editor Pro” rows, wrong Aperitive price “from $9.99”, and trophy language.
Native Shopify bulk editor and discounts
Native discounts
Open Discounts, create an automatic discount or code, set eligibility and combination rules, then set start and end times. Strengths: first-party, no catalogue rewrite, clear end for the offer. Limits: product Price fields usually stay unchanged; theme sale badges and some feeds may not look like a “sale price” campaign unless they react to discounts.
Native bulk product editor
From Products, filter, multi-select, Edit products, then adjust Price / compare-at cells. Fine for dozens of variants. Weak for “drop Friday 09:00, restore Monday 09:00 across thousands of variants” without a reverse edit plan. There is no dedicated sale scheduler with automatic restore in standard admin for catalogue prices.
Use native when the catalogue change is small, permanent, or you already have a disciplined CSV/ERP reverse process.
Bulk Discounts Price Editor
Listing claims (2026-11-03 research snapshot; re-verify): bulk price and compare-at updates; percentage/fixed/cost-based rules; schedule with rollback; filters; plus listing mentions of automatic discounts, BOGO, Markets, badges and timers. Do not document those extras in setup steps until UI-verified.
Landing: bulk discounts product page. Fix name/price drift on that page before leaning on it in CTAs. Prefer the App Store listing for any published price table.
When it is a strong fit: weekend or seasonal catalogue markdowns with a known restore window; percentage updates across filtered sets; teams that need history/rollback rather than “hope someone saved the export”.
When it is not ideal: you only need a simple code; you need a full non-price product editor (consider BulkEasy or a general bulk editor); you refuse apps; your pricing is fully driven by an ERP that already pushes restores.
Alternative apps
Write fair sections for each verified alternative with listing URL, dated price, strengths, limits. Prefer fewer honest rows over a padded top-ten.
For each alternative on publish day, capture:
- Exact App Store URL and handle
- Whether the listing states schedule + restore for product prices (not only discount windows)
- Filter depth (collection / vendor / tag / variant)
- Compare-at support
- Plan gates that block scheduling on free tiers - One clear limitation (for example: stronger at metafields than at sale restore, or pricing unclear)
Do not invent review counts, “Editor’s Choice” badges, or competitor screenshots. If you cannot verify a row, delete it.
Recommendations by use case
| Use case | Start here |
|---|---|
| Coupon only | Native discounts |
| Weekend catalogue markdown with restore | Bulk price editor with schedule |
| Edit descriptions/tags too | BulkEasy or general bulk editor |
| Markets-specific prices | Confirm Markets support in-product |
| Permanent supplier cost pass-through | Percentage bulk update (see DISCOUNTS-003); schedule optional |
| Agency BFCM playbook | Dev-store trial of shortlist + written restore SOP |
Worked shortlist example (illustrative process)
A 2,000-SKU homewares brand wants a Friday–Monday 15% catalogue sale with compare-at “was” display, and still needs a VIP code for email subscribers that must not stack on sale SKUs.
- Must-haves: schedule + restore, compare-at, collection filter, documented stacking plan with native discounts.
- Native discounts alone: rejected for catalogue “was/now” requirement.
- Native bulk editor: rejected (no reliable timed restore at that scale).
- Shortlist: Bulk Discounts Price Editor + one verified general bulk editor whose listing mentions schedule/restore.
- Trial: 20-SKU test collection, then stacking test with the VIP code paused on those SKUs.
- Decision: pick the tool that restored correctly and matched plan cost after a dated listing check.
This is a process example, not a ranking claim.
When Aperitive is not the right choice
Choose native discounts if you never need to rewrite product prices. Choose a general bulk editor if pricing is a side task next to metafields and descriptions. Choose custom scripts if you already run a disciplined ERP pricing pipeline. Choose nothing new if your last “sale” was a single collection code that already works.
Common evaluation mistakes
| Mistake | Why it hurts | Better approach |
|---|---|---|
| Ranking by old blog prices | Plans change | Dated App Store snapshot on publish day |
| Treating discount apps as price editors | Wrong mechanism | Check whether Price fields change |
| Skipping restore drills | Stuck on sale prices | Time-box a pilot with forced end |
| Mixing sale prices + codes without a matrix | Margin blow-ups | Write combination rules before install |
| Trusting landing-page copy over the listing | Drift | Prefer App Store + in-app UI |
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Shopify app for scheduled bulk price changes?
The one that proves schedule + rollback on your catalogue size after a live trial. Use the criteria list, not a static crown.
Can the native Shopify bulk editor schedule rollbacks?
Not as a dedicated sale scheduler. Plan on discounts, apps or manual reverse edits.
How is a bulk price editor different from a discount code app?
Price editors change product price fields. Discount apps apply rules at cart/checkout. Both can exist; stacking them needs care.
Should I change prices or use automatic discounts for BFCM?
Many brands use discounts for codes and selective automations, and price editors for catalogue-wide “was/now” presentations. Test checkout math either way. Write which SKUs are “price edit only”, “code only”, or “neither” before the freeze date.
How many apps should I trial?
Two is usually enough: your leading price editor candidate and either native discounts alone or a general bulk editor if you also need non-price edits. More than three trials rarely improves the decision for a single BFCM window.
What evidence should agencies keep for clients?
Dated screenshots of the App Store pricing table, the pilot restore log or history entry, and a one-page stacking matrix. That package ages better than a “best apps 2024” PDF.
